The actress, formerly of Sugar, is accused of embezzling about 4.3 billion won and could face 3 years in prison.
On the 21st, the Jeju District Prosecutors' Office requested this sentence during Hwang's trial for specific economic crimes, presided over by Judge Lim Jae-nam.

Hwang allegedly took 4.34 billion won, including 700 million won borrowed by Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, for cryptocurrency investments in early 2022.
She reportedly invested 4.2 billion won in cryptocurrency and used the rest for taxes and other expenses.
Hwang owns 100% of the family-run agency, with herself as the only artist managed.
Hwang has admitted guilt and reportedly repaid the advance payments by June 5, submitting evidence to the court.

Her defense pleaded for leniency, stating she aimed to grow the company, was unaware of accounting rules, and has repaid all funds.
Hwang's sentencing is set for 10 a.m. on the 25th of next month.
